From Burnout to “Live @ Parkville Sounds”

ree

In 2019, I stepped away from music. What was supposed to be a quick break turned into years of silence on stage. I needed it. Burnout had caught up with me, and honestly, so had a sense of aimlessness. I was moving, but not with purpose. I kept saying yes to everything without a clear goal, and eventually I resented it. I was wearing myself out, and my fire had dimmed to smoke.

Losing the Joy

Now, let me be clear. Just because you have a passion for music does not mean it always has to be your full-time grind. You can absolutely do it for fun. But it wasn’t even fun for me anymore. When booking inquiries came in, my body would tense up. Instead of being excited about a gig, I felt resentful. I just wanted to be home with family and friends. It didn’t feel right. It didn’t feel good. And let’s be real: if you are not making a ton of money doing something, the least it should do is bring you joy.

Learning to Rest

So for four years, I poured my energy into other things like supporting community projects, mentoring young artists, and simply giving myself permission to rest. Saying no felt amazing. Honestly, I wasn’t sure if I would ever return to soul music in the way I once had. But little by little, inspiration crept back in. By December 2023, I made the choice to reboot. Not to go back to the artist I was before, but to step forward as Charmagne Tripp, a Grammy Award-winning vocalist and independent soul artist creating with intention, joy, and sustainability. This time, I wanted to build a career rooted in wisdom, not burnout or a scarcity mindset.

Rebuilding with Intention

The music industry moves fast, and I had a lot to catch up on. I invested in myself by hiring coaches, enrolling in music marketing programs, and rebuilding my foundation. I launched a new website, got fresh headshots, hired a musical director, assembled a band, upgraded my gear, and started producing content for social media and YouTube. It was 18 months of serious rebuilding, but it was worth it.

The Reboot Era in 2025

Now, in 2025, I can look back and see just how far I have come since that decision. This reboot era was never about chasing every gig. It is about creating live music experiences that truly matter, for me and for my audience. Live @ Parkville Sounds is the heart of that vision. It is more than a recording. It is proof of my return and a celebration of Progressive R&B and indie soul at its most authentic.

Capturing the Magic of Live Music

For years, I struggled to capture the magic of my live shows in my recordings. The laughter, the intimacy, the unexpected moments that make a room feel alive. This project finally bottled that spark. Every note, every breath, every connection with the audience is there. Live @ Parkville Sounds represents not just how far I have come, but also where I am headed: creating sustainable, soulful, and intentional live music that heals and connects.

Carrying Hartford Soul Forward

This is Hartford Soul. This is my journey. And this is only the beginning.
